Building Resilient Cities through Smart Solutions

In a consortium with EPRD (Poland), CESO (Portugal), Enggrob & Singh is executing the EU Public and Cultural Diplomacy Project in India, designed to enhance the European Union's engagement and cultural influence in India across three primary areas: Policy, Education, and Culture and Partnership Outreach. By leveraging strategic partnerships and multiple platforms, the Project is well-positioned in India to foster diverse engagement, facilitating meaningful dialogues, cultural exchange, and sustained collaboration. Ultimately, this initiative aims to build lasting diplomatic ties and promote a deeper cross-cultural exchange between the EU and India.

In a partnership with DRYP A/S (Denmark), and two NGOs: Danish Association for Sustainable Development (Denmark) and Joygopalpur Gram Vikash Kendra (India), a micro water resource management toolkit consisting of IoT ("internet of things") and IoP ("internet of people") sensors and cloud-based data services are implemented in a pilot project. This real-time monitoring on community level will eventually enable local citizens, water user groups and local administrations to minimize drought hazards by over-exploitation of groundwater and save costs in terms of public health, water security and agricultural production

A Water Risk Assessment and Water usage optimization study was carried out for Lion Brewery (Ceylon) PLC in Sri Lanka. The flood risk mitigation strategies deployed and the assumptions considered were reassessed for adequacy. As part of the study, improvements towards minimizing disruption of ground water uptake due to flooding were addressed, along with recommendations towards further optmization of water usage.

A workshop was organized to help cities explore how to raise money and form partnerships to improve waste management. The event was organized by the Global Covenant of Mayors for Climate & Energy (GCoM) and supported by partners like C40 Cities and others. The workshop focused on improving waste operations by highlighting the importance of using quality data and by understanding various examples of waste collection, treatment, and disposal presented by participating cities. A key theme discussed during the workshop was related financing of waste management projects in India cities.

Together with WWF using their newly developed tools, water management plans for a European biotechnological production site were prepared. This involved initial assessments of the water risk considering the type, category and tool indicators related to the river basin and operational risks at the specific site. The tool kits use global indicators which need to be corroborated and aligned with local conditions. In this respect, Enggrob & Singh Pvt. Ltd. was engaged to review the site’s water risk assessment, to validate and augment the water risk assessment results, to propose mitigation actions and to support the reporting process.
